Admissions

Applications

St. Mary’s Church of England Primary School has a distinctive Christian ethos which is at the heart of our school and provides an inclusive, caring and supportive environment where children learn and flourish in a setting shaped by Christian values.

We welcome applications from all members of the community and we ask all parents to respect the Christian ethos of our school and its importance to our community.

St. Mary’s Church of England Primary School is a Voluntary Aided (VA) maintained school, which means our governing body is the school’s Admission Authority and is therefore responsible for admitting children.

Our school admits pupils by criteria known either as a Foundation Place (active in the life and worship of a Christian church) or as an Open Place (admitted irrespective of religious background).

Admissions policy

St. Mary’s Church of England Primary School has its own Admissions Policy that sets out and explains the following:

  • how the school will consider applications for every age group
  • what parents should do if they want to apply for their child to attend our school
  • our arrangements for selecting the pupils who apply
  • our ‘over-subscription criteria’ (how we offer places if there are more applicants than places)

 Admissions Policy 2019-20

Please note: the current Admissions Policy for 2019-20 now has an addendum confirming that a sibling in the school must be in the main school (Reception to Year Six). This point has been added for clarification in consultation with Wandsworth Council, is in line with established practice, and does not represent a change in policy.
