Year 4 is an exciting time for our children as they transition upstairs to join year 5 and 6. This transition encourages a sense of maturity and responsibility and the children adopt a more independent attitude as they join the older children.
In Year 4 we encourage independent learning but it is also very collaborative. In English we cover lots of different writing styles and techniques such as character descriptions, diary entries, newspaper reports, poetry and we encourage the children to use more descriptive language. Our topics include the Ancient Egyptians, Living Community, Chocolate and the Rainforest and each topic has a wide range of interesting activities which encompass history, science and geography. In maths, we consolidate mathematical knowledge and introduce some more challenging areas such as fractions, division, weight, capacity and data handling.
