This is a busy and exciting year for the children. It is a big step up from Year 4 and the children are expected to take a more mature and independent approach to their learning. A special part of Year 5 is our overnight residential trip to Sayers Croft, where we work to become more independent and bond as a team.
In Year 5 we use both independent and collaborative learning to cover a large range of topics. In English we explore a variety of literary genres through The Power of Reading scheme, including, fiction, non-fiction, narrative poetry and myths. Through our cross-curricular topic work, we will explore science, history, geography and computing, within topics such as Ancient Greece, space, weather, materials, sight and sound. In maths we will continue to build on and consolidate the mathematical knowledge previously introduced and better develop our reasoning and problem solving skills.
