Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

My name is Kimberly Barrett and  I am very passionate about teaching and ensuring that every child reaches their full potential whilst having a fun and positive learning experience. The class is supported full time by Ms James. This school year will be a year of setting and reaching attainable goals and working to achieve our best in all we do.

Ms James and I are dedicated to involve the children with their learning; grasping onto their passions to move forward their learning whilst covering all that is expected within the National Curriculum. Our goal is to ensure that all of the children become critical thinkers, active problem-solvers, inquisitive readers, diligent learners, prolific writers and kind and considerate individuals with an “I can“ attitude.

We love using music, actions, puppets, real life scenarios as well as trips to aid our learning. We ensure to make learning fun, so there is always lots of giggling to be heard from the children. We have many mantras and quotes to boost our mind-set to know it’s ok to make mistakes and that we learn in different ways at different rates. Sid the Spider and Jigsaw Jack are a constant reminder and role model of the attributes needed to create a harmonious learning environment.
