  • LAST DAY – SUMMER HOLIDAYS!
    • The end of the summer term will be on Friday 20th July with the school closing for the summer holiday at 2.30pm.
    • Have a great holiday and see you all soon!

 

  • YEAR 6 LEAVERS
    • It is time to say goodbye to our Year 6 children who will be leaving us for secondary school in September 2018. Their last day at St. Mary’s will be on Thursday 19th July.
    • The Leavers’ Service will take place at St. Mary’s Church on Thursday 19th July at 9.45am
    • We wish all of your Year 6 class a fond farewell and the very best of luck in their new schools!

  • SUMMER FAYRE & BBQ
    • Our annual Summer Fayre and BBQ will take place on Saturday 16th June!
    • The Summer Faryre and BBQ, supported by FoSMS, will take place on the school playground from 2pm to 6pm.
    • This year the theme is ‘Cool Britannia’ and there will be the usual fun for the whole family, including: face painting, bouncy castle and slide, cake decorating, arts and crafts, Punch and Judy show, refreshments and food…

  • CHRISTIAN AID WEEK
    • St. Mary’s will acknowledge Christian Aid Week from Monday 21st May to Thursday 24th May
    • As always the children are challenged with turning £5 into £50 with their mini-enterprise stalls – good luck to all of the groups – stalls will be open open for business after school until around 3.45pm

  • WHOLE SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPH
    • During the morning of Friday 18th May the whole school – children and staff – will gather together on the school playground for a photograph
    • Children will be required to wear their full winter school uniform for this photograph

 

  • TESTING WEEK
    • Good luck to all of our children who are being tested over the next few weeks. This includes the children in Year 2 who will be taking their end of Key Stage 1 SATs and the children in Year 6 who will be taking their end of Key Stage 2 SATs
    • Our Year 6 children are invited into school early at 8.30am during their SATs week (Monday 14th-Thursday 17th May) for a sumptuous and brain-boosting breakfast!

  • MOTHER’S DAY SERVICE
    • On Friday 9th March the whole school took part in our annual Mother’s Day Service held at St. Mary’s Church ahead of Mothering Sunday
    • Each class delighted their mothers with a great mix of special Mother’s Day themed songs, poems, prayers and performances
    • Mother’s who attended the service were presented with daffodils from the children

 

  • WORLD BOOK DAY
    • Our school celebrated World Book Day on Friday 2nd March 2018
    • The whole day was dedicated to our love of books! The children took part in lots of book-related activities including working with children in other classes to produce some descriptive writing linked to our favourite Roald Dahl books
    • Each child was given a special World Book Day book token

  • SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATE
    • St. Mary’s will no longer be closed on Thursday 3rd May 2018 as previously reported – the school will be open as usual
    • Wandsworth Borough Council will now be using other premises for the forthcoming local council elections

    • St. Mary’s joined in with celebrating Safer Internet Day (SID) on Tuesday 6th February.
    • SID is all about the safe and positive use of the internet and this year’s theme is: ‘Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you!’

  • YOUNG VOICES
    • The 2018 season is upon us and we will once again be sending our school choir to participate in the Young Voices concert at The O2 arena. Young Voices offers our children an amazing opportunity to join one of the largest school choir concerts in the world.
    • The concert takes place at The O2 on Friday 2nd February 2018 at 5.30pm.

  • CHRISTMAS NATIVITY SERVICE
    • Our school Nativity service will be on Tuesday 19th December 2017 at 9.45am, St. Mary’s Church
    • The story of the birth of Jesus will be retold by our Year 6 children, accompanied by a host of songs sung by the rest of the school
    • All are welcome to attend and enjoy a celebratory service called ‘Christmas Around The World’

 

  • CHRISTMAS FAYRE
    • Our annual and very popular school Christmas Faryre, supported by FoSMS, will be on Friday 8th December 2017
    • As always FoSMS have worked hard in organising this festive offering which kick starts at 2.45pm
    • Please look out for the posters and letters being sent home about all the wonderful things you can enjoy at the fayre
    • Don’t forget there will be a wide range of fabulous prizes up for grabs in the Christmas raffle – scheduled to take place at 4.30pm
    • So come along for a mice pie, some mulled wine and a brilliant afternoon!

 

  • DT DAY
    • DT Day will be held on Friday 1st December 2017
    • The theme for this DT Day will be Christmas cards
    • Each class will be given a different design brief to make a Christmas card that has a mechanism that moves, pops up or lights up!

  • PARENT EVENINGS
    • The first parent evenings of the year will take place on Wednesday 29th November and Thursday 30th November
    • Parents should ensure they know their appointment date and time – please arrive early to avoid missing your slot
    • On arrival parents should go to the school hall to view their child’s exercise books
    • For your information: in the future these parent evenings will be known as a child’s ‘Progress in Learning‘ meeting

 

  • SCHOOL JOURNEY
    • Our Year 5 and Year 6 children will participate in the school journey residential trip to Sayers Croft
    • Year 5 children will be visiting Monday 20th-Tuesday 21st November
    • Year 6 children will be visiting Tuesday 21st-Friday 24th November

  • ANTI-BULLYING DAY
    • Anti-Bullying Week takes place during the week beginning Monday 13th November 2017 and is organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance.
    •  We will be marking this important week with our very own Anti-Bullying Day on Friday 17th November 2017 in which our children will have a full day of activities to focus on the issues related to bullying and how to stop it.
    • Our very own Anti-Bullying Ambassadors will be out in force to help raise awareness on this day.

  • RE DAY – COMING UP
    • On Friday 3rd November 2017 St. Mary’s will be conducting its RE Day.
    • This will be an exciting and thought provoking day of activities on the theme of ‘Respect, Responsibility and Resilience’.

 

  • PARENT GOVERNOR VACANCIES
    • St. Mary’s CE Primary School’s Governing Body currently have two parent governor vacancies.
    • All parents and guardians at the school are eligible to serve as governors and nominations close at 3.30pm on Friday 17th November 2017.
    • Governors play a vital role in shaping and strengthening our school. Being a school governor is an incredibly rewarding position.

  • SCHOOL OPEN DAY
    • St. Mary’s will be holding a school open day on Tuesday 17th October 2017 at 4pm.
    • Our open day is aimed at prospective parents who are considering St. Mary’s as their child’s school.
    • During the open day parents will be welcomed by the Head Teacher and be invited to take a school tour to visit classrooms. Our Year 6 children will accompany staff on the tours and provide visitors with an opportunity to ask questions.

  • BUDDY’S BIG WORKOUT
    • St. Mary’s has recently supported the NSPCC Speak out. Stay safe. programme which included a special assembly with key safeguarding messages for the children and follow up workshops for Years 5 and 6.
    • The NSPCC believe it’s vital that every child in every primary school across the UK understands abuse in all its forms and recognises the signs of abuse and gets help if they need it.
    • To help fund raise for the NSPCC the school is conducting ‘Buddy’s Big Workout’. This involves a class physical challenge and we would like the children to complete sponsor forms to help raise money.
    • The children will have until Wednesday 11th October to collect their sponsor money and return it to school.

  • HARVEST FESTIVAL SERVICE
    • This year our Harvest Festival service will take place at St. Mary’s Church on Friday 6th October, 9.45am.
    • The school will be supporting the ‘Wandsworth Food Bank’ for the second year running. Please see our ParentMail notifications for the donations that are urgently needed. We ask you to bring your donations into the school hall (NOT THE CHURCH) the week commencing Monday 2nd October.
